Kim's Before and After Pics

7 Pounds Down, 13 More to Go!

YouTube Chattanooga Woman Loses 7 Pounds and 5 inches in 6 weeks, totaling 52 lbs of weight loss, in GetFIT “20 lbs. in 12 Weeks” Weight-Loss Challenge.

CHATTANOOGA, TN – November 19th, 2007--Chattanooga woman loses 7 pounds and 5 inches in 6 weeks with local fitness expert—bringing her total weight-loss to 52 lbs. in 11 months—with the world watching on YouTube.

On October 8th, 2007, David Duford, owner of QuickFit Personal Training, launched the “GetFit Challenge”, featuring local Chattanooga resident Kim Witt as she exercises and eats her way to a healthier and leaner body, her goal; to drop 20 pounds in 12 weeks.

“Kim has made great strides—she’s losing over 1 pounds per week and has lost over 50 lbs. personal training with me in under a year. She’s deserved her success with the hours she committed to running, weight-lifting, and eating healthily,” says Mr. Duford. “What makes it even better is that Chattanoogans can see Kim’s 12-week Challenge Commitment on YouTube through her GetFIT blog.”

The QuickFit “GetFit Challenge” includes bi-weekly video updates and daily blog updates on Kim’s progress and footage from her workouts at http://getfitchattanooga.blogspot.com/ where she’ll discuss her successes, shortfalls, and secrets to her weight-loss progress. Some of the topics participants will learn from include:
• How to eat (not starve) to lose weight
• What exercise is best for getting permanent weight-loss results
• How to stay mentally focused without faltering

“So far so good,” says Kim Witt. “I’m thrilled I broke my weight-loss plateau and am consistently losing weight each week. Although I’m still 13 lbs. away from achieving my 20 lbs. in 12 weeks challenge, the fact I’m losing weight every week is very encouraging.”

And what does Kim think about the upcoming holiday season?

“I know I’ll keep losing weight,” says Mrs. Witt. “With all the food and sweets around, I watch my diet even more, so I can see myself easily losing more weight.”

Personal trainer David Duford says; “Kim’s done great so far. Losing 52 lbs. in less than a year is amazing—she’s a perfect example of how committing to a personal training program can help yield life-altering results.”

“Expect me to push her through the final 6 weeks of her challenge. And make sure to check out www.getfitchattanooga.blogspot.com to check in on her progress and download our special “Ab-Busting” report free where readers can do the same exercises that help Kim tone her midsection and burn unwanted fat.”

Woman's Battle to Lose the Pounds Being Chronicled on YouTube
Derek Dellinger
October 12, 2007 - 2:29PM
Losing weight can certainly be a challenge.

It's a challenge one Signal Mountain, Tennessee woman is trying to overcome...and she's doing it online.

Kim Witt says she's lost about 50 pounds so far...and she's looking to lose an additional 20 with the help of personal trainer David Duford.

They've set up a "blog", and have also put clips on video site YouTube to chronicle her progress.

She hopes to lose the 20 pounds over 12 weeks. She says, "...just get me out there and show people they're not alone, and it can be done if they just work hard and do what they're supposed to, it'll happen."

Her trainer, David Duford says, "Everybody's not only going to be able to not only read about her, but also watch online...see what she's succeeding at, see what she's failing at. So, everybody will have a better overall picture of how she's doing plus Kim gets the added motivation of people watching her."

Business: Resident loses weight with world watching

By Holly Cowart
Community News Assistant Editor

Signal Mountain resident Kim Witt is on a mission to lose 20 pounds in 12 weeks and she's sharing her progress through the Internet to encourage others.

"I want people to say, 'There's somebody from my hometown doing this on their own and being successful at it,' " she said.

At the Web site www.getfitchattanooga.blogspot.com, Mrs. Witt and personal trainer David Duford will post blogs and video throughout the next three months. Each two- to three-minute video will focus on Kim's exercise routine with voiceovers about her progress in and outside of the gym.

"It's not just the workout it's the whole mental and emotional side that I think is important as a personal trainer," explained Mr. Duford, owner of QuickFit Personal Training and Signal Mountain Boot Camp.

The pair started working together last November and since then Mrs. Witt lost 43 pounds. Mr. Duford said he is confident in her ability to reach her goal because of the determination she has demonstrated to this point.

"I look at weight loss like a science experiment," Mr. Duford said. "You've got to have variables and you've got to fix the variables as much as possible." By lowering calories and increasing exercise the formula is simple, but consistency is the key.

The online project was Mr. Duford's idea. He said others have done it, but he was convinced by past experience. Before the age of computers, he said he remembers seeing pictures from each day of an individual's transformation from more than 100 pounds overweight to fit. Mr. Duford said this is a similar idea, but better because it's more than just pictures.

Mrs. Witt said it's motivating to know people are watching. "I'd just like for people to relate to me," she said. "I want them to see me for me and see what I've gone through. I've struggled with my weight since junior high."

The 37-year-old mother of two said her husband Johnny has been a great support. Her youngest son, Tyler, bragged to his first-grade teacher about his mom's online fame.

"Kim is the type that's a quiet, disciplined, motivated person," Mr. Duford said of the effect the Internet exposure would have on Mrs. Witt's results. "Given the pressure, she's going to respond in a positive manner."

The Web site provides the opportunity for feedback. "We want people to comment," Mr. Duford said. "We want people to share their stories and relate to Kim." There will also be a 25-page report called "Seven steps to skinny jeans in 30 days or less" available to download free.

In addition to her family, Mrs. Witt said the people she works with at Memorial Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center have been greatly supportive. She isn't looking to become famous, but she doesn't mind stopping to talk to her Signal Mountain neighbors that see her online. Of course if Oprah comes calling, Mrs. Witt said she'd be more than willing to make an appearance.

Our Very First YouTube Video Now Released!

Kim Starts Her Journey Today!

Good Afternoon, Everybody!

Are you ready to witness Chattanooga’s biggest weight-loss transformation?

Kim is primed, pumped, and ready to lose her weight! She’s coming in tonight at 6:30PM at my QuickFit Personal Training studio in downtown Chattanooga.

Tonight we’ll be doing lots of pushups and cable curls, perfect for sculpting and toning the arms, shoulders, and pectorals. Afterwards Kim will do her run/walk cardio program that will help elevate her metabolism and burn more fat after her workouts.

Which leads me to ask the question—what are you doing or have done that has helped you burn the most fat? Did working out with free-weights help you burn the most fat? Or was it the cardio that worked the best?

Personally I believe weight-training is bar-none the best fat-burning exercise protocol you can use. Even better than cardio! But tell us what do you think works best for burning fat?

Until then, we’ll see you Tuesday. Latrice Currie from Channel 3 is coming in to do a story on us, so look for us on the news in the very near future!

In fitness,

David Duford
